Written about in the New York Times, the article entitled
Iran's Death Penalty is Seen as a Political Tactic, it explains that the Iranian government is putting innocent people and people that they think are of the opposing political party to death. Since Ahmadinejad took power, the killings have quadrupled, they are now up to an average of 2 per day. These people that are being killed are not getting a trial of any kinds, and are being killed in mass numbers. Some are even done in public. This is in order to create fear in the opposition.
Here is the article...

What is stopping the government from turning these killings into the next genocide? First it's those that oppose the government, then it will be those from the other political parties, then it'll be everyone with blue eyes. Nothing can be more terrifying than having all the power, and as we know from history, humans do not do well with power. How can these human emotions be put aside for the good ones to take over? How much longer can we continue to allow those with power to abuse it and justify there actions with ideas about nationalism and religion? Just because "the law" is committing crimes, doesn't mean they should be allowed to get away with it.
